From the Hellenistic Greeks via the Byzantines to the Arabic Saracens and beyond, Sicily has some of the most intriguing architecture and breathtaking monuments anywhere in the western world, and all within touching distance of one another. There is also the more modern and sinister history of fascism under Mussolini, and, of course, the Mafia, perhaps the perfect incarnation of the island's dark heart...

We at Voyages Ilena introduced our personally selected Sicily programme last year, and its popularity has convinced us to hone and perfect it, and to provide the ideal base for you to explore everything this extraordinary island has to offer. We have self-catering villas in the North West near Castellamare and Scopello, in the East near Siracusa and Taormina and even on the slopes of Etna itself! We have a higher ratio of handpicked hotels to houses than usual, to cater for the demand to move around the island to see as much as possible. Almost all our villas have private pools, and those that don't have swimming very close. We have properties that will appeal to all ages, and to all sizes of groups, with a good number of large villas sleeping to 14. Our hotels range from 5 stars, with luxury spa, to three stars for family beach holidays.
